Today, BVB will play in the Champions League for the last time this season. After a disastrous group stage with three defeats in a row against Ajax Amsterdam (0:4, 1:3) and Sporting Lisbon (1:3), the team of coach Marco Rose (45) will not spend the winter in the Champions League 

Borussia Dortmund managed to get just six points from five games in the Champions League group stage. The only team to do worse in Group C was Besiktas. The Istanbul-based side has not picked up a single point before the end of the group stage of this Champions League season. And Sergen Yalcin's team hasn't covered itself in glory in the league recently either. Besiktas did not win a single one of their last five league games.

With Borussia Dortmund's Champions League dreams already dashed this season, the Borussians have only one last lap of honor left. With a win against Besiktas Istanbul, BVB could at least bow out of the Champions League with dignity and start the Europa League season with its head held high.
