Israel Signals Readiness to Withdraw Troops from Gaza Following Ceasefire Deal

Reports emerged that Israel and Hamas had agreed to the initial phase of a ceasefire in Gaza, prompting the Israeli military to announce preparations for a troop withdrawal.

In a statement, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) noted that they have started operational planning to implement the agreement. This includes initiating combat procedures and logistical preparations to adjust troop deployments swiftly.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas expressed support for the ceasefire, stating optimism that it could pave the way for an independent Palestinian state..

However, opposition within Israel surfaced, notably from far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who voiced strong objections to the agreement. In a post on social media, Smotrich raised concerns about the release of prisoners, warning of potential risks to security.

The ceasefire deal, which includes provisions for hostage releases, was met with widespread relief. Celebrations broke out across Israel, Gaza, and nearby regions, with families of hostages in Israel lighting fireworks and Palestinians expressing hope for lasting peace through public displays of joy.
