I know that we have been overwhelmed by tragedy in the past few months. But I want to take a moment to resolve a special tragedy. This is a serious injustice. It has taken a life, but in the context of our history, it still resonates in many other ways.

So far, many of us have seen the painful footage of Ahmed Arbery, jogging one day in February. Shot down by cold blood. Moving in front of our eyes, so obvious, unambiguously, without mercy. He is 26 years old today.

The justice his family deserves, they deserve it now. They should conduct a quick, comprehensive, and transparent investigation of his brutal murder. Two and a half months after the crime, the two men responsible for his death have now been arrested.

They were arrested only after the Americans saw the video clip and spoke it out. That should not be the condition necessary for justice in the United States. These arrests are not only the beginning of the realization of justice, not only for Emory's family but for the entire country. The United States needs to take this into consideration.

This vicious act reminds us of the darkest chapter in our history, and of the terrifying ghosts of the white supremacists who recently marched in Charlottesville, the massacre of pilgrimage, and the hate pandemic. Emmott should be alive today, we cannot save his lost life.

However, we can make a commitment that we will work together to achieve equality and justice in the United States and eliminate racial inequalities, gender inequalities, and income-based inequalities in our system.

African American parents should be confident that their children are walking safely on the streets of the United States. Before we got there, the work was still urgent and unfinished.

This is my commitment to the chairmen, and I will make unremitting efforts to bring us to this day.
